Project Geotechnical Engineer

Job Description

K & A Engineering, Inc. has a position available for a full-time Project Geotechnical Engineer.  We are seeking a self-motivated professional engineer who can work independently to complete all aspects of a wide range of geotechnical engineering projects.

The successful candidate will have a passion and desire to excel in one or more special areas of geotechnical engineering.  We encourage our engineers to bring to the table any interest that will make their job more challenging and enjoyable.

Projects

Project Geotechnical Engineers will be involved with a variety of projects including:

  • Geotechnical site investigations and reports
  • Geologic hazard evaluation including slope movement and liquefaction
  • Landslide investigation and slope stabilization plans
  • Foundation investigations and underpinning design
  • Forensic and expert witness services relating to geotechnical engineering
Responsibilities

Responsibilities for Project Geotechnical Engineers include:

  • Site investigations
  • Geotechnical seismic analysis, design and recommendations
  • Construction quality assurance inspections
  • Data interpretation and geotechnical reports
  • Development of project proposals
  • Project coordination and meetings with clients, local building officials, and contractors
  • Assistance in refining and developing use of our geotechnical drills
  • Laboratory analysis
Qualifications

Interested candidates should have the following (minimum) qualifications:

  • 5-years of experience working directly in the Geotechnical discipline
  • Master of Science in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in geotechnical engineering
  • Currently licensed as a professional engineer in the state of Oregon or currently registered with NCEES as a professional engineer
  • Capable of obtaining GE by examination
  • Proficient in the use of geotechnical design and analysis software, especially for limit equilibrium stability analysis
  • Proficiency in FEM analysis is desired
  • Proficient in the use of AutoCAD as a design tool
  • Proficient in written and oral communication skills
  • Valid driver’s license with a good driving record
  • Eligible to work in the US
